The Sound of Money is Dabba Radio’s business show hosted by Santosh Sirur, Assistant Vice President at a leading international bank. The goal is to provide informed discussion on business matters that you care about.
The format of the show begins with a discussion of the fortnight’s news in the business and finance world. This episode, Santosh chats with Jayant Pai, a Vice President at Parag Parikh Financial Advisors. They discuss the effects of the crises in the Middle East and Japan, interest rates, crude oil prices, and the stock market.
Following the headline discussion is the section, “Back of the Coin,” where Santosh looks behind contemporary business and financial issues and gives the listener a historical or otherwise unique angle into the functioning of the domestic and global economy. On this episode, Santosh explains the long journey of India’s modern rupee.
Every week, Santosh poses a question for listeners to answer. This fortnight’s question: Who came up with the new design for the Indian Rupee symbol? Email soundofmoney@dabbaradio.org with the answer. If you are the first person to get it right, we will read a question from you on the next show.
Finally, Santosh wraps up each episode with “Your Money,” a discussion about issues that affect you personally - from careers to taxes. On this episode, Santosh talks to Shivani Tallur, a recent Business School grad, about the transition from the classroom to the office. He also brings Jayant back on the show to talk about personal finance and car and home loans.
